Ms. Bloody Mary Anne (Kamee Abrahamian)

Hailing from an Armenian family of thespians, Kamee’s parents always nurtured her creativity and individuality.  Taking her from the dusty streets of Cairo, where she was first trained by performers of the Russian Bolshoi, to the bustling city of Los Angeles, where her initial interest in film and photography were ignited, Kamee’s childhood was without a doubt unconventional. Having trained for fourteen years in various forms of dance, with an emphasis on classical ballet, she was able to easily transition into modeling and acting. Arriving in Montreal at the ripe age seventeen, she pursued her studies in Film and Political Science. Socially, Kamee easily found her niche in the vibrant environment of Montreal nightlife. Her traveling circus lifestyle prompted her to gravitate towards the city’s vast medley of vivacious individuals. With an innate ability to lead and nurture, her role as matriarch of the Blood Ballet Cabaret was serendipitous. As a result, Kamee has been able to create a healthy and productive environment for the BBC performers to reach their full potential as artists. Her charming presence on and off the stage inspires those around her to truly open themselves up to the Blood Ballet experience.

【Ms. Bloody Mary Anne (Kamee Abrahamian】

アルメニアの俳優一家に生まれ、両親からは個性と独創性を重んじられ育てられる。エジプトのカイロから離れ、初めてのロシアン・ボリショイのトレーニングを受けロサンゼルスに移り住み、そこで彼女は初めてフィルムと写真に興味を抱くようになる。Kameeの幼少期はとても型破りなもので、クラシックバレエを主に14年間に及ぶ様々なダンストレーニングを受け、モデルや演技までもこなすようになる。17歳の時にモントリオールに移り住み、そこで彼女はフィルムと政治学を勉強する。活気あふれるモントリオールのナイトライフで彼女は自身の活動場所を見つけ、彼女の巡業サーカス団的な生活スタイルは陽気あふれる人々を引きつけました。先導力と育成力が長けている彼女はBlood Ballet Cabaretのリーダー的存在としてグループをまとめ、その結果、彼女はThe Blood Ballet Cabaret (BBC)に属すモデル達がもっているポテンシャルを最大限まで引き出すのに最高な環境を作りに成功する。彼女の愛らしさはステージ上でもステージ以外でも沢山の人々を魅了し続ける。

YUKO

After graduating from college, Yuko became interested in traditional Japanese Arts.  She is an accomplished Classical Japanese dancer and shamisen player, always seeking new expression through the traditional style.  In May 2010,  she played shamisen in traditional dance performance events “Otogizoushi Tori-Oi” and “Kashiko” at Gallery Ef in Asakusa.  Her next performance is “Netaimatatabi” at AFR Yokohama on December 5th 2010.

ヘイ！アートモンキー！

今月は今年最後のスケッチィです！今回を逃したら来年までスケッチィはおあずけよ！
今月のテーマは「EDOLOPOLIS 3000 ~未来から来た芸者~」舞台は3000年のEDO。遠い未来でも日本の伝統文化を大切にする人々がいた。その伝統伝承者の一人、幽子が未来のEDOLOPOLISで遭遇するものとは…!?

【幽子】
大学卒業後、芸事に目覚め勉強を始める。日本舞踊、三味線など和の音色と身体技法をおさめ、伝統美の中にも新しい表現を試みるパフォーマー。2010年五月、江戸時代より遺る朝草の蔵のギャラリー「ef」にて行われた舞踊パフォーマンス「御伽草子 鳥追い」には「かしこ」名義で三味線として参加。次回出演：2010年12月5日「熱帯股旅」@AFR横浜

Hello Art Monkeys!

There’s a bad moon rising in October, and that means it’s time for the ever popular Dr. Sketchy’s Halloween!

This month’s theme is Halloween Circus, and the Sketchy Circus ring leader is shining a spotlight on this month’s sexy talent!

The Anti-Art School Dr. Sketchy’s Circus is proud to bring you a magical evening of sketching spectacle with the amazing Barbara Murata!

Those attending in costumes will receive a special surprise! So get yourself gussied up and come join us under the big top!

Barbara Murata

Barbara Murata is one of Japan’s top mime artists.
She mixes theatre, dance, puppetry, mask and object manipulation to create a new mime wold.
Barbara Murata’s unique style includes the dramatic, the romantic, and the comic, all illustrated through her sense of rhythm and movement.
Barbara studied dance and theatre during her time at university as well as participating in the mime club in Waseda University and Koyo Yamamoto.

In 1997 she attended the Desmond Jones School of Mime & Physical Theatre in London.
In 2002 she was awarded the “Heaven Artist”, the Official Street Performance License in Tokyo.
She has performed in a variety of venues, from the street to the stage, both in Japan and abroad.

【バーバラ村田】
ダンス、演劇を経てマイムの沼にずぶずぶと。マイムにダンスや演劇、人形劇の要素を取り入れたドラマチックな作風には定評がある。
全国各地の大道芸フェスティバルや劇場、クラブイベント、シャンソンバー青い部屋等で定期的に作品を上演。時々指輪ホテルの作品に参加。昼と夜、陰と陽、お外と穴ぐら行ったり来たりの身体激情エンターティナー。

Hey, hey, Art Monkeys!
We’re back from the blistering summer and ready to deliver you a Back to School Special featuring the lasciviously limber LILU! Forget those awkward memories of first school days and get ready for a Burlesque Back to Anti-Art School bash!

Lilu, from Australia, has trained in artistic gymnastics for seven years, and rhythmic gymnastics for four, specifically with ribbon. She has been singing and dancing sinc…e she was six. While in Japan she has performed for children’s education and adults’ amusement. She is currently in training on aerial silks for TIP’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in October.

今月は「Back To School (新学期)」をテーマにお送りします！スケッチィ・アンチ・学園で刺激的な悩殺授業をご用意して、
皆様のご来園をお待ちしております！
※今月は第四水曜日ではなく第五水曜日に開催されますのでご注意を！！

今回のゲストはオーストラリア出身のLilu(リル)さんをお呼びしています！彼女はアーティスティック体操のトレーニングを7年間に渡り受け、
さらにリボンを主に使うリズミック体操のトレーニングを4年間積んだ強者アーティスト。彼女は6歳からダンスと歌に没頭。
来日後、数々のチャイルド・エデュケーションやアダルト・アミューズメントにてパフォーマンスを行う。
最近では10月に開演される「A Midsummer Night’s Dream」に出演の為の猛特訓中！

Howdy Art Monkeys!

The summer sizzle stretches on, but it’s not the time to succumb to heat lethargy! Wipe the sweat from your brow, put your pencil to the paper and drop and give me twenty sketches! Rally up recruits, because this month you’re off to Dr. Sketchy’s boot camp! And we’re excited to announce the return of our beloved vaudevillian drill sergeant, MIWA!

MIWA is a vaudevillian performer who recently gave a hilarious performance as Michael Jackson at the Fuji Rock Festival ’10. Her comical movements set the venue aflame with laughter. Sometimes a dancer, sometimes an impressionistic model, always a star, MIWA is sure to bring the light of laughter to your sketchy evening!

急遽決定！！今月のドクタースケッチィは日本でもうすぐ発売のiPadによるライブスケッチを実演します！
今回スケッチィがフィーチャーするアーティストはLA在住のストーリーボードアーティストのスティーブ ククル氏です！
彼はクリエィティブ集団【310アーティスト】の正式メンバーの一人でもあり、彼の手掛けた作品はディズニー映画の『ビバリーヒルズ・チワワ』やSONYから近日公開予定の映画『スマーフス』などにも起用されています。他にも多方面のクライアントワークや広告関係までと幅広く活動しています。クライアントワーク以外の時間は、人物画や彼のプライベートワークのグラフィック小説や電車のスケッチなど常に積極的に製作活動に取り組んでいます。彼の作品は【310アーティスト】のサイトで閲覧できますので是非チェック！http://www.310artists.com/artist.php?artistid=33

Intrigued by the possibilities of drawing on Apple’s new iPad? Maybe you saw stylish artist Steve Curcuru sketching away on his at our last event? Well this month, Steve will be hooking his iPad up to the Pink Cow projector to give a full demo of how it’s done! Not only that, but Steve will be giving each art-monkey a chance to touch and draw on the iPad themselves.

Did we mention that this is all going down on Wednesday, May 26th, Two days before the iPad’s release-date? Don’t pass up your chance to try it out!

Steve Curcuru is a concept and storyboard artist working in Los Angeles, California; and a member of the creative group 310Artists.
In addition to movies like Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Sony’s upcoming Smurfs, he draws for many directing clients and advertising agencies.  When he’s not drawing for others, Steve likes to draw from life, work on his own graphic novels, and sketch on trains.  More of his work can be seen at the 310Artists website.
