Barbara Murata is one of Japan’s top mime artists. She mixes theatre, dance, puppetry, mask and object manipulation to
create a new mime world. She has performed worldwide both on the streets and in theatres. Murata’s unique style includes the dramatic, the romantic, and the comicーall illustrated through her sense of rhythm and movement. Her character’s charm is honest and sincere: a woman coming and going between day and night, yin and yang, inside and outside. Murata is also a member of the performing arts company, Yubiwa
Hotel.
Doppelgänger is a mixed-media performance using mime, dance, masks, and puppetry. Murata describes our other selves and our deepest thoughts, and her show also explores the extremes of love, hate, solitude, and griefーwhich we all know but keep to ourselves in our own secret world where the fire of passion never dies. Doppelgänger is pure physical theatre alternating between Eros and Thanatos, Life and Death, Yin and Yang, Chaos and Calm, Noise and Silence… those moments of solitude where an inner voice asks, “What do I want? Where am I going? Who am I? How will I live?”

Barbara Murata est une mime parmi les plus reconnues au Japon. Elle mélange théâtre, danse, marionnettes, masques et la manipulation d’objets afin de créer un nouveau monde du mime. Elle a présenté ses spectacles de par le monde dans un contexte de rue ainsi qu’en salle. Le travail unique de Barbara Murata se base sur un style dramatique, sur le romantisme et sur la comédie. Il est illustré par un sens du rythme et du mouvement. Imbue de charme honnête et sincère, Barbara est une femme qui va et vient entre jour et nuit, entre Yin et Yang, intérieur et extérieur. Elle est membre de la compagnie de théâtre, Yubiwa Hotel.
“Doppelgänger” est un spectacle multimédia qui inclut mime, danse, masques et marionnettes. “Doppelgänger” décrit notre autre moi, l’esprit profond en nous et explore les états extrêmes de l’amour, de la haine, de la solitude et du chagrin; émotions communes à tous mais cachées dans le monde secret de l’individu, là où le feu de la passion ne s’éteint jamais. Théâtre physique pur qui oscille entre Éros et Thanatos, entre la vie et la mort, entre le Yin et le Yang, le chaos, la tranquillité et le silence… en d’autres termes, ces moments de solitude quand notre voix intérieure nous demande: “Qu’est-ce que je veux? Où vais-je? Qui suis-je? Comment vais-je vivre?”

バーバラ村田／村田朋未 パントマイミスト、パフォーマー。小学校よりダンスを学び、大学のパントマ イムサークル【舞夢踏】にてパントマイムを始める。卒業後は山本光洋にパン トマイムを師事し、島留美、加納真実と共にマイムグループ「水中三姉妹」を 結成。1997 年、ロンドンの The Desmond Jones School of Mime & Physical Theatre にパントマイム留学。帰国後は独自の表現を模索しつつ、 全国各地の大道芸フェスティバルや劇場、クラブイベント、シャンソンバー青 い部屋等で定期的に作品を上演。2010 年、国際交流基金の助成を受けて欧州 大道ツアーを敢行以降は海外フェスティバルにも多数出演。「バーバラ村田の ムーランルージュ劇場」を始めとした作品で全国の子ども劇場も巡演。2002 年、ヘブンアーティスト取得。2006 年、指輪ホテル（主宰：羊屋白玉）作品 「Candies~girlishhardcore」欧州、北米ツアー参加。2011 年、ネオサーカ ス集団「遊侠サーカス」結成。演出・出演作品「よるべない女たち」、主宰イ ベント「バーバラ村田のよるべナイト」等。
